Municipal Court

We represent individuals in actions brought in Municipal Court, including but not limited to: driving offenses (especially serious driving offenses), driving while intoxicated (DWI) and disorderly persons offenses (misdemeanors).  It is a truism that a substantial percentage of the people of New Jersey will have contact with municipal courts, but it is also true that this contact is rarely benign or simple.  Your contact with a municipal court could have serious consequences. You could lose your driver’s license for months, you could be sentenced to a jail sentence, or you could be forced to pay expensive fines. You may also have a criminal record which would need to be expunged at a later date.  It is important that you are represented by attorneys who do not minimize the real concerns that you face.

A special note about domestic violence proceedings: While domestic violence restraining orders are handled in Superior Court (Family Division), somebody served with a TRO (temporary restraining order) or an FRO (final restraining order) may also be prosecuted for the underlying criminal offense, such as harassment or assault. My many years of experience with domestic violence cases in Family Court, as well as my experience with defending felonies in Superior Court, will help you get the best possible result in Municipal Court.
